How do I Use the additional IPs from a Tunnel Package?

Postby MadJoker » Thu Apr 09, 2009 10:19 pm

Hi,

I have a question regarding the additional IPs for the tunnel package.
I was able to install OpenVPN and initiate the Tunnel to the main IP-Address from my Linux Server.
How do I include the other IP-Addresses into the OpenVPN configuration :?:

OpenVPN creates a new virtual interface that acts as a normal network interface.
You need to create an alias using `ifconfig´ to use the secondary IP.

Example: ifconfig tap0 alias a.b.c.d netmask 255.255.255.255

Not sure if you'd use the same command in the openvpn-config though.

Thanks,

I will try this at night. Maybe I can run some more interfaces with these IPs ;)

Thanks for the info. I was sure that there is some kind of alias procedure, but did not know how I can add it to the ifconfig.
